#idiots has released and it has made History. In 10 days of its release,it has proved itself to be the biggest block-buster in the lifetime of bollywood grossing over 240 crores in 10 days, crossing the previous benchmark setter,Ghajini, which had earned around 225 crores that too in its lifetime.
And truly indeed, the movie deserve that kind of an applause. It's a near perfect movie and I guess I was idiotic enough to watch the MOVIE 3 times. And I am proud of it.I could have watched it more, iff all the since had not be memorized by now.
The movie is a historical one, touching the modern day life of the new born India who now think of ambition and success and not just a job to survive and manage throughout in life. Engineering and medicine have been the benchmark for successful individuals in this country and one of the most desired profiles when it comes to arranged marriages raking in over 10 lakh in the dowry business.THe reason for justification:parent's hard work and sacrifices in making their son:an engineer, thus achieving the benchmark of respect in the society.
I have been through that experience, well not the marriage experience and I don't wish to be a bikaao(an item to be sold) in the flee market where husbands are sold.
In this parents' perspiration to make their son an engineer, they forget one important thing:that their son is a human being, gifted by desires, motivation and inner talent straight from the heavenly above. He too must be having some of his ambitions, some desires to achieve, some goals to have and to do something extra ordinary in this world. But the peer pressure is so great, so heavy, that every step in the rate race for success is lauded as if you are the war hero and any small towards the fulfillment of your inner desire and goals is decried as a selfish, devilish thing done. A child near his twenties, cannot cope up with such psychological pressures. He gets afraid, falls in line with the rest, and joins the race. Sp his motivation of success, I stay ahead than others. So his way of success just means to beat others in the race,by hook or by crook. So where does he focus on his work? None at all, only to the degree that it is done "as required".The concept of excellence is left behind. He has no love for the job,and slowly and gradually this facy also gets to him. And he becomes the same old twisted person.
"But where do I have to take the blame?"the parents ask,"we only thought the best for the children, to make them successful, to make them engineers". And it is here, the concept that the concept of success that gets imbibed with engineering that creates the problem. If their perspiration to make their children successful, not in engineering, but in the field the child would wish to be successful in, would solve the problem completely. The inner desire to the job,to the highest degree of worthiness, can only come when a person loves his job,his work.Paulo Coelho, the author of Alchemist, won't have written that master piece if he had bowed down to his parents' wishes to be an engineer. He fought and he is successful. Sometimes I feel, the biggest war to be fought in this world by an individual is the war for his individualism. It's painful, but it is worth it.After all, when you return from the war and go home and see yourself in the mirror, you feel proud of yourself, and that kind of a pride which you see,is far greater the praises being showered by millions of people at a time, specially if that greatness is hollow, which is being faked by you.
In any case, the movie sends the right message:"Atleast in any field that you land up,by choice or compulsion,do not fear, work for excellence, not success(especially the kind you think you would get after beating others as if it is some kind of a race),as when you work for excellence success automatically comes to you,the kind of success that you would be proud of yourself.
Listen to baba Ranchordas, for his messages are truly great.
As for the movie, everyone of them have performed to the optimum potential and Aamir Khan is at his best, playing a college student, when his age is around 44 in real life, each character does give an impression of real life, you would feel them, especially if you were in an engineering college.
Hopefully you have watched the movie, if not,you have missed one of the biggest example of excellence,in the history of bollywood.
